Home Loan Modification: Is there genuinely any Attorney out there who helps?
|
2/12/2010 8:02 PM (PST)
Day in day out one is flooded with mail about Loan Modification Offers from Attorneys. Folks in California,
Can any one genuinely respond if this is possible and it works. Also what are the average retainerships charged by Attorneys. What is the average turn around AND are there any surprises.
Appreciate response from folks who have been through the process and have seen success as well as failures.
I have read a few comments and experiences but I want to know more and hence the above probing questions.
I would rather sink with the economic down turn and its perils than be mislead into another scam.
It is sad that in the land of the free and the home of the brave one has to deal so much with schemers and the US Government turns a blind eye to scams and does not protect the innocent public in times of need as now but gifts us into the hands of schemers.
If you know a Good Attorney in California who is trustworthy, then please suggest. I am seriously researching about Loan Modification Options before having to default on mortgage.
Many Thanks!

Start your loan mod journey by calling a HUD approved non-profit housing counselor who will take you through the process at no charge. Call 888-995-4673 to reach a HUD approved agency.

California enacted a tough new law in October that makes it illegal for companies to collect fees in advance of completing the modification services, but that hasn't stopped some companies from trying to milk homeowners out of their money. Unless there's a serious enforcement effort, the problem will persist.
For more information on loan modifications, visit www.MakingHomeAffordable.gov.
Good luck, the loan mod journey is not an easy one.
