This is a scam. I wonder how many businesses around the country receive this "bill" for $150 and pay it without looking into it. The form looks like a legitimate request for corporate information. The reason I looked carefully at it is that the Office of Compliance... is in California and our corporation is incorporated in Texas. I do have a California corporation, so I am glad the one they chose was the Texas one.
I guess this outfit scans corporate records in various states and sends these illegitimate bills out willy nilly. I will bet that they make a huge amount from corporations who have bill paying departments with busy accounting clerks who may simply pay bills without checking them out.
